Los Angeles - Baby furniture manufacturer Million Dollar Baby will launch a new brand, Franklin & Ben, at the ABC Expo this month. Franklin & Ben features new traditional styling and aims to intertwine history, heirlooms and vintage craft with contemporary, fun designs.
The initial launch will include five collections, and will be available exclusively to specialty stores. Two of the collections are produced in conjunction with modern designer Jennifer DeLonge, who is said to bridge the gap between classic and modern.
"I am beyond thrilled to partner with Million Dollar Baby on this innovative collection that displays my love of timeless design," said DeLonge.
Tracy Fong, vice president of sales and marketing for Million Dollar Baby, described the design of Franklin & Ben as a very "old-school, back in New England look."
"...It's modern, our own, and contemporary, but with a huge vintage-craft-historical feel," she said.
The collections are made from poplar hardwood and feature all-wood dovetail drawers, telescopic glides, nickel glides and bronze library pulls. Case pieces include a double dresser with changer tray and a five-drawer dresser.
Colors are anything but typical nursery and include rustic walnut mixed with navy blue, pure matte white, dark true brown and weathered grey.
Price points start at a sharp $299 for a crib, with the most expensive, the Mason crib, topping out at $599.
"It's very competitively priced," said Fong. "We're going up against Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn."
The collections are manufactured in Taiwan and assembled in the United States at Million Dollar Baby's facilities in Los Angeles. Franklin & Ben will begin shipping in January 2012.
