The pair were inspired when working on the design for Thiessen's daughter Harper, now 3 months old.
"A lot of the furniture looked the same," said Thiessen, and so she and Paul set to work on Petit Nest. Both women wanted the collection to be high-style, American made, and eco-friendly.
Cribs are manufactured in Bandera, Texas, and are made from an eco-friendly MDF with a water-based finish, and feature walnut, beech or white accents. The six modern crib designs range in price from $1,250 to $1,290 retail, with dressers priced from $1,450 to $1,490. Circle and medallion motifs embellish the Noe, Alouette and Sophie cribs and dressers, while the Wren features a wavy design and the Perrin includes oval lines throughout. Add-on changing stations are available in beech, walnut or white, and are priced at $245-$265 retail.
The line also includes glider rockers in four styles: the Odette, Ettienne, Luc, and Camille, with wing back, curved, modern and tufted designs, and fabric choices in Sunbrella velvet, linen, or linen/cotton blend. Retail price points are from $1,120 to $1,425. A child-size version of the Ettienne retails from $420 to $700, depending on fabric choice.
Crib bedding collections are produced in California, and are made of 100% cotton with eco-friendly dyes in muted tones and sophisticated patterns and motifs, including floral berry, damask, and peacock.
The entire collection is designed to coordinate without being too matchy-matchy, said Thiessen. Paul said first-day feedback has been good at the show, with customers calling the line "fantastic" and "so different."
