Five companies awarded for best products at NYIGF

Five exhibitors showing in the Baby & Child section at last week's New York International Gift Fair received awards for Best New Products as voted by a panel of editors.

Winners and two finalists were named in four categories: toy, décor, gear and apparel. A winner was also recognized in a fifth category, Blogger's Best. About 116 entries were judged on innovation, design and style.

The winners are:

Blogger's Best: Box Play for Kids' eco-friendly stickers, which can be placed on household boxes such as milk cartons to turn them into toys.

Toy: PlanToys for its Play House, a three-story dollhouse made out of rubberwood with a carry handle and a rooftop that becomes a garden. The runners-up were Fat Brain Toy Co. for its Tobbles Neo stacking toy and Juratoys US Corp. for Magnetibook Crazy Face.

Décor: Haba USA for the Teepee play tent, a portable play space for kids. The finalists were Magicforest for the Fly with Me Hot Air Balloon music box and Milk Moon Kids for its growth charts.

Gear: Aden + Anais for Serenity Star, a 5-in-1 electronic sleep and feeding system for mom and baby. The finalists were MadPax for the Bubble Nibbler insulated lunch bag and Love Mae for its melamine dinnerware.

Apparel: Pipopipo for Pipopipo friends socks, which come in a reusable bamboo package with three pairs of socks designed either for boys or girls. The runners-up were Cutey Booty for an outfit and Keepsake Threads for its Upcycled T-Shirt baby bibs.

"Across the board, Baby & Child showcases innovation and new design directions," said Randi Mohr, Baby & Child sales manager. "These products in particular stand apart in their inspired excellence."

The Best New Product Award judges were: Joanna Dreifus,; Joann Fallon, Baby & Kids/Giftware News; Lynda M. Johnson,; Caroline Kennedy, Playthings; Jane Kitchen, Kids Today; Nancy Lombardi, Toys & Family Entertainment; Leesa Valentino,; and Angela Velasquez, Earnshaw's.
