Colgate Mattress founder honored by GA House of Representatives

Sol Wolkin, founder of Colgate Mattress, manufacturer of crib mattresses, foam pads and mattress and pad accessories, was honored in March by the Georgia House of Representatives with a resolution that recognized the company and its founder in a special ceremony held during an active session of the state House.
The resolution, verbally presented to Wolkin by House Speaker Glenn Richardson, acknowledged Colgate’s 53 years of operation and service in Atlanta, the company’s continuous operation through three generations of family members, Colgate’s manufacture of quality mattresses, the company’s commitment to manufacturing in the United States and Colgate’s dedication to its employees as measured by employment longevity (most have been with the company more than a decade and one employee has more than 40 years of service).
Those in attendence included Alan Wolkin, Sol's eldest son and president of Colgate; Richard Wolkin, Sol's youngest son and vice president; Dennis Wolkin, Alan’s eldest son and production manager and company treasurer and secretary; and other company employees, family and friends.
State Reps. Margaret Kaiser of the Georgia 59th district and Robbin Shipp of the Georgia 58th district put forth resolution.
