Submit entries for JPMA Innovation Awards by Aug. 15

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Assn. is now accepting submissions for its 2012 Innovation Awards. The winners will be announced during the fall ABC Kids Expo, set for Oct. 14-17 in Louisville, Ky. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Companies exhibiting at the ABC show - with the exception of table top exhibitors - are eligible to submit products for judging. Products must either be new introductions at the show or have been on the market for less than one year. All qualified entries will be judged in a preliminary round by a panel of retailers and trade and consumer media representatives on the following criteria: innovation, marketability, trend-setting potential, appeal and usefulness.

The top 50 products will move on to the next round and be displayed at ABC during the course of the show, a change this year. Finalists will be notified on or around Sept. 14.

On-site judging will take place Saturday, Oct. 13, and the 10 winners will be announced during a luncheon Sunday, Oct. 14.

The competition includes a new award this year, the ParentHood Choice Award. Members of JMPA ParentHood, an online community of parents, grandparents and other caregivers, will judge the 50 finalists and vote for a "gotta have it" product. The winner will also be announced during the luncheon on Oct. 14.

The competition is open to both JPMA and non-JPMA members. The entry fee is $175 for members and $400 for non-members. Companies may submit multiple entries, and the entry fee is per product.
