UberFAMILY offers car seat option for passengers with children

UberFAMILYThe uberFAMILY car seat feature gives passengers with children the option to select a vehicle with a specially-designed IMMA Go seat.

SAN FRANCISCO — Uber, a venture-funded startup and transportation network company, has launched uberFAMILY, a new car seat feature currently available in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City.

Uber makes mobile apps that connect passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire and ride-sharing services. But with the debut of uberFAMILY , passengers with children who are at least 12 months old now have the option to choose a vehicle with an IMMI Go car seat.

The feature was created through a partnership between uber and The Car Seat Lady, an organization dedicated to car seat safety and co-founded by a pediatrician. The Car Seat Lady purposely chose the IMMI Go seat for its easy installation process and flexibility to adjust between children of different ages, according to uber’s website.

Additionally, uber worked with IMMI directly in tailoring the car seat to fit the needs and specifications of its partner vehicles, and drivers met one-on-one with The Car Seat Lady to demonstrate proper installation of the seat in their own vehicle and their ability to secure a child safely into the seat (in case a parent were to need help).

There is a $10 surcharge when requesting uberFAMILY, but just this week, the fee is waived. For more information, visit uberFAMILY’s frequently asked questions webpage.
