MONTREAL – Dorel Industries Inc. has promoted announced the promotion of Hani Basile to president of Dorel’s juvenile segment. Basile assumed leadership of the segment on an interim basis in January this year. The appointment is effective immediately.
Basile has been involved with Dorel’s juvenile businesses since he joined the company in 2003. He served as CEO of Dorel Distribution Canada, was instrumental in establishing Dorel Australia and Dorel Brazil and has been COO of Dorel Juvenile Group worldwide since May 2008.
Dorel President and CEO, Martin Schwartz said the appointment is an obvious one.
“Hani has been an important member of the Dorel management team for several years. He has consistently demonstrated an ability to deal efficiently with a variety of executive assignments and his responsibilities with the company have increased accordingly,” Schwarts said. “As president of the juvenile segment, Hani will guide the strategy as the business continues to grow and will oversee all aspects of its operations. He is clearly up to the challenge and has built an excellent rapport with our solid juvenile teams around the world.”
The Dorel Juvenile Group says it is the world’s largest juvenile products company in its categories, with 2008 sales exceeding $1.1 billion.
Dorel’s powerfully-branded products include Safety 1st, Quinny, Cosco, Maxi-Cosi and Bébé Confort in juvenile the category, as well as Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose and SUGOI in the recreational/leisure category.
