There will always be a place in nurseries for traditional furniture, with its heirloom sentiment that gives a nod to grand rooms of the past.

Munire’s Park Avenue collection, made from Asian hardwood and premium matched burl veneers, converts to a toddler, day or full-size bed, $699, (732) 339-6070, ABC Booths 5645 and 5651. |
Munire’s Park Avenue collection is a testament to that, with its refined details like premium select matched exotic veneers, detailed base mouldings and curved drawers and doors.
But there are varying degrees of blending that traditional look with the simple, clean lines of modernism.

LaJobi’s transitional Tomi Collection is made of woven cane and hardwoods, in cinnamon or licorice, $699-1,099, (888) 266-2848, ABC Booth 4003. |
The new Tomi Collection by LaJobi is, at first glance, traditional with its woven cane and hardwoods, yet it has contemporary lines. The collection uses rattan, wicker and caning, with design inspirations taken from a blend of seaside porches and Victorian parlors.

| Swivel Glider #2097 from Best Chairs marries traditional and contemporary styles. A matching glide ottoman is also available, (812) 367-8453, ABC Booth 649. |
And Best Chairs has come out with Swivel Glider #2097. Artistically designed with streamlined curves, the glider mixes contemporary style and traditional charm. Highlighted are the bends and bows of the back, the flared arms surrounding the tightly upholstered seat and the tall dressmaker skirt.

| Louis, a new line for Netto, includes a convertible crib and a combined dresser/changer, both with cabriole legs and Netto’s signature finishes of white lacquer and oak, (212) 343-1545, ABC Booth 7027. |
A little further toward modern style is Louis, by Netto Collection. The look brings Versailles chic into the new millennium, according to company founder David Netto.
“Louis offers something modern, but it’s also a sleek and happy adaptation of the French 18th century style,” said Netto.
Netto has seamlessly interwoven the traditional and modern look, with this collection, which was created for everyone who thinks modernism doesn’t have to be just about angles and straight lines.
And that idea seems to be catching on in the baby furniture industry.
We would love your feedback!
