HIGH POINT – La-Z-Boy officially opened its new High Point office last week, home to both case goods and corporate executives.
A year ago, the company announced that it was downsizing its office space with a short move from Greensboro, N.C., to an business park here. The new office at 4310 Regency Drive has 28,000 square feet, about half what its old location had next to the Grandover Resort.
High Point Mayor Becky Smothers presented a $200,000 check to the corporation at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, one of three installments as part of an incentive package to bring the company back into the city after it left High Point 10 years ago.
About 100 employees will be based in the office. American Drew and Lea Inds., which have combined most of their functions, will have about 55 workers there as well as Steve Kincaid, president of La-Z-Boy’s case goods division that includes American Drew, Lea Inds., American of Martinsville, Hammary and Kincaid.
Others stationed in the office are corporate employees such as the audit and credit departments.
