NEW YORK -- San Francisco-based retailer giggle opened its first New York store last month, a flagship location on Wooster Street in SoHo. The design of giggle's new store reflects the architecture of the surrounding SoHo neighborhood. Like the San Francisco location, the New York store features a complete checklist of specially selected baby items including furniture, décor, bedding, gear, feeding, bath and spa, household, toys, clothing and shoes, books, music and gifts. "Our goal is to make it a whole lot easier for new parents to create a smarter nursery - not by offering everything out there, but by offering the best of everything, with one-stop convenience," said owner Ali Wing. The SoHo store features oversized black-and-white photographs of local babies as a salute to the neighborhood, and the store's interior wainscoting, molding and original refurbished hardwood floors are designed to evoke a familiar and residential atmosphere consistent with SoHo's architecture. The store also includes a stroller parking lot with vintage parking meters, a library complete with iPods with child-friendly music, and a space for events such as new parent groups, workshops, seminars and readings. A second New York store is scheduled to open in Manhattan's Upper East Side by the end of the year. |
