Toys “R” Us donates $100,000 to tornado victims

Donation to go toward relief services

-- Kids Today, 2/20/2008 12:20:00 PM

The Toys “R” Us Children’s Fund has given $100,000 to Save to Children to help kids affected by the tornadoes that hit parts of the Midwest and South recently.

The retailer operates 66 stores in the affected states of Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. According to Mark K. Shriver, vice president and managing director of U.S. programs for Save the Children, the donation will be used to help offer psychosocial workshops for children and replace educational and play items, among other services.

The Children’s Fund, the philanthropic division of Toys “R” Us, was founded in 1992 and has donated millions of dollars each year to organizations that help children during relief efforts and other times of need.
