giggle recently opened three stores, adding to its locations in New York City; San Francisco; Walnut Creek, Calif.; Greenwich, Conn. and Greenvale, N.Y.; as well as its online e-tail and resource Web site, www.giggle.com.
Stores opened in Pasadena and Corte Madera, Calif. and Chicago. The Pasadena store marks giggle’s first Los Angeles-area store; Corte Madera is its third San Francisco Bay area location and Chicago is its first Midwest location.
Founder Ali Wing and her staff have evolved giggle into “more than just a baby store;” it’s a “new-parent resource.” The stores carry pre-selected merchandise as well as giggle’s own line, giggle Better Basics.
All products are evaluated using the following criteria and must meet at least four to be included in giggle’s new-parent checklist: Baby Basics, Good Value, Tested, Healthy, Multi-Stage, Innovative, Easy/Simple, Portable, Compact/ Space-Saving, and Responsible. giggle’s total-nursery product checklist includes: Furniture, Decor, Bedding & Blankets, Gear, Feeding & Nursing, Bath & Potty, Household, Toys, Layette & Clothing, Books & Music, and Gifts.
“We strive to make the transition from not being a parent to being a parent easier and more fun,” Wing said. “In addition to doing the homework on best-of parents’ products, we work hard to provide the product expertise and advice new parents so desperately crave in an inviting, helpful and familiar manner that makes serving our local communities so rewarding. As part of our commitment to providing a knowledgeable resource to new parents, all store employees — most of whom are proud local residents — participate in an ongoing curriculum at giggle University.”
Wing, who launched giggle in 2003, has also written the “giggle guide to baby gear,” published by Chronicle Books.
giggle’s Corte Madera, Calif. store is one of three new locations for the retailer.
