Martinsville, Va. —
Hooker Furniture has promoted Bruce Cohenour to the new position of executive vice president of marketing, with responsibility for charting the company's product and merchandising direction and for positioning its Hooker, Opus Designs and Envision brands.
He most recently was senior vice president of national accounts and business development and has been in senior management at Hooker for about two years. In his new post, he reports to Paul Toms, chairman, CEO and president.
Hooker also announced that James Millner, who had been merchandising vice president, will now be an independent designer working with the company on product design. He had joined Hooker in January 2008 after it acquired the youth specialist he had founded, Opus Designs.
"James has helped us a great deal in bringing product targeted to a younger consumer in more lifestyle and James Millner transitional styling at Opus Designs, Hooker and Envision," Toms said. "We look forward to his continuing design contributions for all three companies."
With Millner's departure, Merchandising Manager Cindy Hall will take on the additional role of assisting Cohenour with product development for Opus Designs, and also will continue to work on proprietary products for large national accounts. Merchandising assistants will continue to report to Hall, who has been with the company for 19 years, and she will report to Cohenour.
In addition, Erica Wingo, who has been a management trainee for two years, will become a merchandising assistant working with the accent chair program and special products.
We would love your feedback!
