MFA, United Media sign license agreement for Peanuts clocks

Will commemorate 60th anniversary of comic strip

-- Kids Today, 12/1/2009 8:07:00 AM

TOLEDO, Ohio – Mark Feldstein & Associates and United Media, the licensing and syndication division for Peanuts have announced that MFA will offer a series of wall and alarm clocks with sounds, commemorating the 60th anniversary in 2010 of the beloved comic strip.

“Charles Schulz’s Peanuts is about hope and optimism, and we are honored to reflect this in a series of clocks celebrating this influential piece of popular culture,” said Mark Feldstein, president, MFA. “We hope that this partnership with Peanuts helps put life in perspective, and brings a good feeling to peoples’ daily lives.”

The Peanuts Sound Clock series from MFA, a 23-year-old product development company and importer of innovative electronics, housewares, and giftware, will feature those loveable Peanuts characters including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and Linus on colorful clock dials. To add ambiance, the clocks will play a variety of memorable Peanuts melodies at the top of each hour that will bring back great memories and put smiles on peoples’ faces.

As an added bonus, all 8-inch Peanuts clocks can either be hung on the wall or put on any table using a built-in tabletop stand. In addition, Peanuts Alarm Clocks will become a part of our widely popular Wacky Waker product line with its nostalgic shape, easy-to-read numbers and fun sounds.

The line of Peanuts Sound Clocks is scheduled for distribution in April 2010 and will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10, 2010 in Las Vegas.

Starring an unlikely round-headed hero and a unique cast of young characters wiser and wittier than their years, Charles Schulz’s Peanuts is not just the best-known, most-loved comic strip ever created, but a true global phenomenon. The Peanuts characters—Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Sally, Schroeder, Pigpen, Peppermint Patty, Marcy and all the rest—are featured in 2200 newspapers, in classic television specials and on remastered DVDs, on stage, in hundreds of books and across the Internet.

They have inspired every kind of consumer product from T-shirts to toothbrushes. And while translated into 25 languages, Peanuts has introduced a vocabulary all its own: “Good grief!,” “security blanket,” “Happiness is…,”and “You blockhead!” Yet Schulz’s iconic characters still retain the simple comic appeal and quotable wisdom that set them apart right from the beginning. As Peanuts approaches its 60th anniversary in 2010, “Good ol’ Charlie Brown” and his inseparable gang remain as fresh and vital as ever.

The Peanuts Clocks are the latest in a long tradition of unique gift items from MFA, including themed-sound clocks licensed by a variety of companies including General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Audubon, and Thomas Kinkade, among others.
