Exclusive Report: Consumer insight
Survey from Kids Today, HGTV
By Dana French -- Kids Today, 5/1/2008 12:00:00 AM
Three-fifths of kids’ consumers try to plan ahead and purchase at least some furniture pieces to grow with their child as she ages. Only 29% of buyers expect all the furniture to grow with the child without purchasing new products. That’s one of the key findings from 2,788 consumers responding to Kids Today and HGTV’s exclusive Kid’s Consumer Survey.
For the consumers transitioning from the crib into a larger bed, more than one-third move the child into a twin bed, while another 27% move into a toddler bed.
For three-fourths of consumers, there’s a second transition from the after-crib bed into a larger bed. These buyers purchase at least two beds after the crib. The key transition ages come when the child is between 5 and 6, and again when the child is between 11 and 14.
