We asked retailers to tell us about a few products that turned out to be big sellers in the last year or two. Here's what they had to say.

A few products which did extremely well this past year and beat our expectations were N. Selby Designs’ Paradise bedding set, Cloud B.’s Twilight Turtle and Sleep Sheep on The Go.

My biggest surprise product is a Woodcrest stair stepper bunk bed. I had concerns that now was not the proper time because business is slow and experimenting with this item might not have given it fair shot. However, I put in it and have not looked back. It was one of the fastest selling items for our youth category I have purchased in several years.

Two years ago we brought in Robeez shoes. We now sell more … in shoes than we do in all other layette combined! The other two hot products that have sold well beyond expectation have been the Twilight Turtle from Cloud B and the BebePod Seats with trays from Prince Lionheart.

Specialty store accessory items seem to be the category that usually surprises us with the volume of consistent sales and reorders. Our custom glittered words, phrases and names sell daily. I knew they would be good, but they have proven to be even so much stronger in sales than we anticipated. They add so much personality to a little girl’s room, the "room jewelry", as we refer to it. The glittered creations have been our newest product sales success.
Other things that have sold well are the ceramic polka dot piggy banks and picture frames, the pacifier that closes when you drop it and decorator fabric slings and nursing covers.
