Lone Star Baby & Kids to open closeout store

News

-- Kids Today, 2/1/2010 12:00:00 AM

Retailer Lone Star Baby & Kids plans to open its first off-price baby gear, infant and teen furniture showroom in the Dallas area later this year. This new no-frills retail concept will have a warehouse feel and initially be open only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Kloseout Kloset will focus on providing consumers with brand-name merchandise at discount prices due to manufacturer’s overstocks, overruns, closeouts, slow movers and floor samples.

“We are very excited about this new retail concept,” said Michael J. Schaul, president of Lone Star Baby & Kids. “Consumers today are looking for quality merchandise at the lowest price possible. This new venue will allow our customers to purchase baby furniture and accessories at the best price available with some items up to 70% off. Our objective is to bring in quality brand name merchandise (baby cribs, furniture and gear, and big kid furniture), at a great promotional price and turn it quickly.”

Several locations are being considered for the first store.

“We are currently looking at several locations to open the first Kloseout Kloset store in the Dallas area,” said Schaul. “Ideally we are looking for a showroom size between 5,000 to 7,500 square feet plus some additional warehouse space. In the meantime our current three Lone Star Baby & Kids stores operating in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex will have a branded Kloseout Kloset of 1,000 to 1,500 square feet within each individual store, thereby allowing consumers to also obtain great deals while shopping our full-line baby furniture and baby gear stores.”

Most Kloseout Kloset merchandise will also be available for review and purchase online at LoneStarBaby.com and KloseoutKloset.com.

Additional locations may be considered later this year.
