Skip Hop's Splash wins IDEA Award

Skip Hop's Splash baby bottle drying rack has been awarded a 2008 Bronze International Design Excellence Award in the Home Living category. The Splash was designed by Skip Hop and award-winning industrial designer Scott Henderson.
“We are thrilled that the design community has noted the innovative design of our Splash bottle drying rack,” said Skip Hop co-founder and chief design officer Ellen Diamant. “Parents are looking for modern functional design in their everyday products and don't want to settle for things that represent the status quo. Skip Hop is willing to push the envelope and when we do, parents respond”.
The International Design Excellence Awards “is dedicated to fostering business and public understanding of the importance of industrial design excellence on the quality of life and economy” and is awarded every year to the world's best designed and hottest new products. This year's winners include iconic products like the iPhone and One Laptop Per Child.
Judging criteria for each entry focused on eight areas of industrial design excellence: design innovation; benefit to the user; benefit to the client/business; benefit to society; ecological responsibility; appropriate aesthetics and appeal; usability testing; rigor and reliability (design research category); and internal factors and methods, implementation (design strategy category).
