| Ligo's Dominos stair-step bed has a tween feel. It features a two-tone finish, storage on the side of the steps, and cut-out detailing. |
While case goods producer Ligo started out solely in the dining category 20 years ago, the company has been pushing hard to establish itself in the youth industry.
Ligo Kids has been at the last four High Point Markets, making a name for its juvenile furniture.
“Through our research, we came up with a nice youth program,” said Dan Angus, senior vice president, sales and marketing. “We have a mixed container program out of our domestic warehouse. We have deep stocks in this country and we can ship fast.”
Ligo Kids offers five collections, and plans to add four more within a year.
“We have excellent agents, who can achieve good construction for a value,” Angus said. “We've put an effort into designing. The colors are good, and we have a mid price point with an upper price point construction.”
It's not Ligo's first foray into bedrooms; in 2003 it tried adult bedrooms, but the program didn't last because the company couldn't make its prices competitive enough.
Nevertheless, with two decades of manufacturing to back it up, Ligo is well-versed in taking care of its customers. “We built our business on independent furniture stores, and we know how to shower them with service,” Angus said.
