Montreal —
Century Industries is introducing a new collection of kids lamps that features a more sophisticated look.
Century's Iven Levine said the company wanted to take its youth line in a new direction. "The lamps are very avant-garde," he said. "We're doing different shapes and using vibrant colors."
The lamps feature shades and geometric-shaped bases that are interchangeable. Levine said the lamps will be available in several bold colors. Customers can send in a color swatch, and the Montreal-based Century will try to match it, he said.
The lamps are expected to launch at retail by April, and retail prices will be between $30 and $99.
Levine said Century plans to also keeps its current youth lamp line, which features more traditional looks and retails at slightly lower price points in the $30 to $79 range. Levine said that line has been very successful, but the company wanted to try a different look.
"We want to get our name out," he said. "We can do things that no one else can."
Century Industries' new youth collection has tween and teen appeal.
