Florals, animal designs popular themes at spring textiles market

Staff -- Kids Today, 4/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

This month's New York textiles show is, as always, packed with color and cool patterns. Many looks seem to skew toward tween and teen girls, a popular demographic in this category. But there are plenty choices for others, including babies and toddlers. And as these introductions show, offerings go beyond top-of-bed. Armoires, totes and shoe racks show the variety available to retailers.

Catimini's Rose et Papillons sheet set translates into a pretty pattern with roses and butterflies. Coordinating towels and bathrobe complete the look. Price points range between $30 and $198.

Butterfly Dream is produced under Whisper Soft Mills' Save the Children license. A whimsical butterfly and flower design is paired with a plaid pattern. The twin comforter set retails for $69.99.

These travel bags are designed for the baby and tot on the go. Parents can pack a brush, powder and other essentials in the white bags with colorful monograms. From Mullen & Fitzmaurice, they retail for $25 each.

Aubergine Home Collection is introducing its Madras bedding collection in crisp white and a beachy blue-green. An eight-piece set, made of 100% cotton and linen, retails between $900 and $1,160.

Olive Kids is showing its vibrant Dinosaurland bedding, which features dinosaurs against a background of volcanoes and prehistoric plants.

Dan River is introducing several new Lilly Pulitzer bedding and bath collections this spring, including Pink Sorbet. The set features a paisley design and bold stripes in feminine colors.

Island Kids' Turtle Ballet sheet set is one of three designs based on artwork by children in the Bahamas. One percent of the sales goes toward funding projects to encourage these children to express themselves through art.

Little Giraffe is showing its Giraffe at Home custom bedding, which is made of satin and plush chenille. The machine-washable bedding is offered in 14 colors and retails between $550 and $1,000, depending on size.

The On Safari armoire is part of Kimberly House Ltd.'s Goosebury furniture collection. The line is offered in solid colors with hand-painted designs that coordinate with Gordonsbury Co. linens.

This rug, shown in Redwood, is part of CMI's licensed Woolrich collection. A 5-by-7 foot rug retails for $599.

Churchill Weavers is showing its new Sea Island Cotton baby collection. The blankets are hand-woven with 100% certified Sea Island cotton and offered in pink, white and blue. They retail for $180.

Espalma by Cobra's Bang the Door beach towel has a hippy, happy theme. The towel retails for $14.99.

This over-the-door rack holds 16 pairs of shoes. It has a sturdy chrome hook, and the cotton fabric is offered in several styles and colors. From Axis Imex, the rack retails between $13.99 and $16.99.
