Mascotopia's mobiles target the littlest sports fans

Mascotopia produces collegiate merchandise for 68 of the top schools in the country as well as Major League Baseball. The company started out selling merchandise at college bookstores and has grown by expanding into gift stores, sporting goods stores and baby stores. But the JPMA show marks the first time the company has exhibited its goods to the infant trade. "It's the most unique product in the kids field," said Jack Effenson, a spokesman for the company. Collegiate mobiles feature football mascots, and each mobile plays the particular college's fight song. Major League Baseball mobiles all play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Price points for the mobiles are between $45 and $50 at retail. Nine-piece puzzles are available with the same teams and retail for $12.50 for the college models and $15 for the Major League Baseball variety. Solid wood blocks sell for $35 and $40 a set, and all products are available for shipping now. |
