The Big Apple held a plethora of infant and youth product this summer ranging from diaper bags and bedding to wall décor, furniture, toys and lighting. Though modern looks still remain in the forefront, there's a new twist to modern as it takes on a vintage, retro look with hues that are a bit more muted and designs that offer a touch of nostalgia.
Stripes and polka dots are still on trend and while brown remains a great companion for blues, greens and pinks, the colors themselves are becoming a bit darker and veering away from "baby" shades.

The mushroom table, $250, and chairs, $50 each, from Streamline are crafted from resin, making them suitable for use indoors and out.

Let's Play Mail, from I'm Still Me, has 27 pieces and is made in America from industrial strength felt. It has a mailbox, flag, postcards, envelopes, stamps, address labels and more. Recommended for ages 3 and up, $48–52. There also are special delivery mail sets sold separately such as Letters to Santa.

Polka Dog is A is for Art's first foray into personalized wall décor. The pooch is available on blue, red, yellow, green, purple, pink or deep pink back grounds in various sizes.

Tweens can make a style statement with the Splat clock, $50, from Lumisource. Twelve "paint drips" represent the hours and it's available in fun colors like red, lime green and silver.

The PortaMee baby carrier features ergonomic lumbar support and is designed for use with children from 5 months to 35 pounds. The carrier, $175, is loaded with extras like an insulated bottle pouch, pockets and more.

The Serendipity crib set from New Arrivals offers a new twist on the green and brown colorway. Florals and dots and a deeper green hue give it a modern vintage look. A three-piece set, $426, includes bumper, sheet and skirt and a four-piece set, $596, includes bumper, sheet, skirt and blanket.

Kushies' Zolo Mobilo, $60, is a crib carousel mobile featuring five detachable toys surrounding a mirrored canopy.

Kids rugs debuted from Bowron with 12 designs including sports themes, ABC's, modern looks and more. The all natural, tanned New Zealand sheepskin rugs retail for about $140 each.

Shimmer, a 12″ plush polar bear, debuted from Douglas Co., along with his companions Chilly, 9;″ Marshmallow, 15;″ and Twinkle, a 15″ white seal. Chilly and Shimmer are made from a crushed, curly kohair fabric while floppy-styled Marshmallow and Twinkle are made from ultra-soft fur.

Bumble Bags' Natalie, $148, is designed for moms of multiples and features dual insulated pockets and stroller straps; it's available in five prints. The company is donating 20% of all Natalie sales to Horizons for Homeless Children, a non-profit group that helps children and parents of preschoolers in the Boston area.


Zillows, from Gloco Accents, are a whimsical collection of striped pillows and wall organizers available in rainbow, pink and green colorways. Animals include an elephant (shown), horse, giraffe, pig and dog, $19.99 each.


Emily Green's original artwork debuts on tabletop for kids, as well as place mats with their own write-on-wipe-off markers. There are eight designs, including a giraffe on 10″ melamine plates, $12, and 6″ melamine bowls, $11; coordinating tumblers also are available.

Pretty is a delicate, four-arm chandelier, $360 with shades, from Empress Arts. The wrought iron, white piece is embellished with strands of pearls. A three-arm version and sconce also are available.

Scandinavian Details' Pee & Poo is a new plush toy and accessory line from Sweden. The duo pack plush, $40, is a conversation starter for baby showers. The line also includes tees, socks and more.

Chappywraps are 60″× 80,″ 60% cotton/40% acrylic blend blankets that come in a variety of designs from animals and sports themes to stars, polka dots and more, $80 each. Since they're made using a woven jacquard technique they're reversible as well.
Zid Zid's elephant bookends offer a bit of sparkle to any child's room. The pachyderms are filled with natural sand and polyfil and a pair can hold up to 50 books at a time.
