LOS ANGELES — MGM Consumer Products and Interactive has named Canadian-based entertainment and licensing company Cookie Jar Entertainment the exclusive agent for all Pink Panther licensing initiatives in Canada. Cookie Jar will leverage the feature film release "The Pink Panther" as a catalyst for reintroducing the brand to Canada. Cookie Jar's first priority includes targeting the fashion marketplace, with emphasis on products for tween and teen girls, as well as young adult women. Fame Jeans is already on board as a confirmed licensee. In addition to fashion, other areas of emphasis include the accessory, footwear, stationery and gifts categories. A second wave of activity will focus on developing and creating licensees for Pink Panther and Pals, the new Pink Panther infant and toddler line, which will include baby apparel, baby nursery and gift items. "We are thrilled to be partnering with MGM on such an enduring and popular brand," said John Gildea, senior vice president of Consumer Products at Cookie Jar. "Established firmly in Canada, with strong relationships with Canadian retailers and manufacturers, we are confident that Cookie Jar will bring a heightened awareness to the Pink Panther brand." "Coming on the heels of a hugely successful Pink Panther 40th anniversary licensing campaign in the U.S., Cookie Jar's knowledge of the Canadian market will no doubt broaden the brand's North American fan base," said Travis Rutherford, senior vice president, MGM Consumer Products and Interactive. "With the upcoming feature film 'The Pink Panther' and the new Pink Panther and Pals baby initiative on the horizon, we are sure that this partnership will help us take the Pink Panther property to new heights." |
