MONTREAL — Consumer goods giantDorel Inds. has reorganized its senior executive structure to create presidents for each of its three business segments — juvenile, recreational/leisure and home furnishings.
Each segment has become a global operator over the past few years and Dorel’s growth potential is such that a new dedicated senior management team is required, Dorel President and CEO Martin Schwartz said in a statement.
However, a president for the home furnishings segment has yet to be appointed, although Norman Braunstein has been named its chief operating officer. He has been a senior executive since 2003 in the segment, which includes ready-to-assemble furniture specialist Ameriwood as well as Cosco Home & Office, California Closets and other divisions.
Company veteran Camillo Lisio has been named president of Dorel Juvenile, including Dorel China and its global procurement and distribution platforms. Hani Basile has been named Dorel Juvenile’s chief operating officer.
Robert P. Baird Jr. will become president of the leisure segment. A consumer goods industry veteran, Baird has held senior posts at a number of multinational firms including Philips Electronics, Samsonite, Scott Paper, Bristol Myers and Procter & Gamble.
He also has been a Dorel board member, but the company said he will relinquish his seat and a new independent director will be named in the coming months.
All three division presidents will report to Dorel’s executive committee, which includes Martin Schwartz, chief financial officer Jeffrey Schwartz and executive vice presidents Alan Schwartz and Jeff Segel. Current divisional presidents will report to the segment presidents.
“Each of these executives will focus strictly on their respective segments to ensure smooth and efficient operations as well as to identify new product lines, new territories and other opportunities,” said Martin Schwartz. “We are fortunate to have assembled such talent. This sets the stage for a new important chapter in Dorel’s evolution.”
