Giggle’s Ali Wing joins Baby Buggy board of directors

-- Kids Today, 5/7/2010 1:30:00 PM

NEW YORK — Ali Wing, founder and CEO of Giggle, has joined the board of directors of Baby Buggy, a local charitable organization that provides essential products, clothing and gear to infants and children in need.

“Baby Buggy is delighted to welcome Ali Wing to its board of directors,” said Jessica Seinfeld, Baby Buggy founder and president. “Her tremendous insight into both children’s brands and parenting issues and trends make her a great asset for Baby Buggy. We are very lucky to have her.”

A graduate of Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and Law School, Wing worked for a broad range of businesses including Fortune 500 companies and environmentally focused start-up brands before launching giggle in 2003. Since that time, the store has grown to 12 locations nationwide and Wing has become a parenting resource through her books, columns and regular TV appearances. She is also on the Kids Today retail advisory board.

“The recession has been particularly tough on the families that Baby Buggy serves,” said Katherine Snider, Baby Buggy’s executive director. “We’re thrilled to have a business leader like Ali Wing step up to help New York City’s most vulnerable families in this time of great need.”

In addition to working with Baby Buggy, Wing also lends her support as a board member for the New York Center for Children; serves on the director’s council for the Children’s Museum of the Arts; and is the executive director of the Tecumseh Foundation, a group founded by her father that awards education grants to children. Wing also created Giggle Cares, which includes the “Giving Makes Cents” and the “Think Pink” Eco-Friendly Blanket Breast Cancer Awareness programs;

Founded in 2001, Baby Buggy is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing New York City families in need with essential equipment, clothing and products for their infants and young children. With an extensive network of community based organizations in the five boroughs, Baby Buggy has donated over 4.1 million items to thousands of children in need. Corporate product donors to Baby Buggy include The Children’s Place, Haddad Apparel Group, Johnson & Johnson, and Maclaren. Visit www.babybuggy.org to see a complete listing of Baby Buggy’s programs, events and board of directors.
