It's All About Innovation

It's funny, really, that in an industry that deals with something people have done since the beginning of time - having and raising children - innovation and technology should play such an important role. But it's part of what makes our industry so interesting and so vibrant: things are constantly changing, and usually, for the better.
In our Buyer's Guide this month, we take a closer look at infant toys and how research and science play such a big part in their development. Toys for babies used to be simply about keeping them entertained; today they're designed to facilitate early language skills, develop hand-eye coordination, and create bonding moments between parent and child. And the science behind all these things keeps growing right along with the category.
Our Industry Faces section this month takes a look at Bengt Lager and Luanne Whiting-Lager, two industry veterans who have brought an incredible amount of innovation to the American marketplace. With their keen eyes for trend-setting possibilities, they've turned Regal+Lager into a powerhouse of a distributor.
And in our cover story this month, we look at how New Jersey-based Bambi Baby is using technology to beat the competition at their own game - hooking up iPads around the store for customers to do their own research, both about products and on competitors' prices. It's a great example of people taking technology and using it in new and unexpected ways to better their business.
With today's technology changing at lightning-fast speed, there is sure to be much more innovation down the road. Our job is to see it, recognize it, and find a way to make it our own.
We would love your feedback!
