High Point, N.C. -- In a move driven by retailer requests, SLF's Sammy youth line has added a convertible crib with a sharp $299 retail to every collection in its line. The company showed the cribs at the High Point Market here this week.
"It's designed to be a good entry-level convertible crib," said Ed Tashjian, chief marketing officer for SLF's parent company, Home Meridian. "...It's designed to hit a price point and be a slam-dunk value."
The cribs are aimed at mainline furniture stores that want to offer a crib option, and the decision to add them to the line was based on customer requests, said Tashjian.
While SLF is new to cribs, its sister company, Creations, is not, and Tashjian said Creations president Kevin Walker was instrumental in creating and overseeing the new crib line.
"We could never hire somebody with that skill set," said Tashjian. "(Walker) was intimately involved in how (the cribs) are made, where they're made, the assembly instructions...the whole nine yards."
The Sammy cribs will be produced in the same facility as Creations' cribs, but are much simpler in terms of finish and design elements.
In fact, each crib in the Sammy line is the same design, with a variation on finish to coordinate with each Sammy collection. For the customer who wants a more elaborately designed crib, Creations would be a step up, said Tashjian.
We would love your feedback!
