LOS ANGELES — Textile producer Block Shop is introducing its first collection of hand-stitched baby quilts to go along with a line of rugs and wall hangings.

Block Shop’s baby kantha quilts use the gentlest materials with little ones in mind, while their bold geometric designs make for striking wall hangings or throws. Each quilt is hand-stitched by a cooperative of women in rural Rajasthan. It takes two months to make each quilt, and no two are exactly alike. Hand block printed with natural dyes, hand-stitched with cotton thread and made of 100% certified organic Indian cotton, the quilts retail for $280.

In addition to the quilts, Block Shop is introducing a new line of scarves that draw their spirit from the marriage and work of Josef and Anni Albers during their years at Black Mountain College.

The company also just launched its first rug collection of handwoven cotton dhurries, along with exclusive wall hangings for Capsule.

Sisters Hopie and Lily Stockman founded their company in 2013 with scarves but have now expanded into home textiles with pillows and quilts. Everything is designed in DTLA by Hopie and Lily and made with traditional Indian hand block printing techniques in Jaipur, India.
