Louisville - Juvenile furniture manufacturer Westwood Design launched a new Always There Hardware at the ABC Expo here last month.
Westwood's Always There Hardware is installed at the factory and is permanently secured within the crib, a move designed to address the many safety incidents caused by incorrectly installed hardware and hardware that has been replaced by consumers.
Because Always There Hardware is preinstalled, it prevents loss of hardware when the crib is disassembled or converted to a bed and subsequently back to a crib for a second child.
Always There Hardware is the result of more than a year of development by Westwood's VP of design and engineering, Scott Bennett (a former Formula 1 race car engineer) and Westwood's president, Scott Krueger.
"Westwood has always taken a relentless and continual look at safety," said Krueger. "We decided six years ago at the formation of the company never to build a dropside crib. We introduced Easy Reach swingout drawers on our changing combos that keep changing supplies at arm's reach and helps prevent changing table falls. We test our products far more often and more thoroughly than we are required or expected to do. ATH is the latest in a long line of safety innovations that add extra piece of mind for parents."
Westwood also showed a new line of No Tool Assembly products at ABC, designed to assemble in minutes by hand, and literally with no tools. NTA products use a patented design that allows any chest, bookcase, hutch, or dressing table to assemble in minutes.
"We thought about doing an assembly video, but after reviewing the assembly process, we only had one minute of content," said Krueger.
Krueger said the NTA format allows for a smaller package that costs less to ship and travels without damage trauma.
Krueger also said that the NTA products are built with the same level of quality as all Westwood fully assembled products.
"We wouldn't have it any other way," he said.
We would love your feedback!
