Beijing — Trade show organizer Koelnmesse has teamed with the China Toy & Juvenile Products Assn. (TJPA) to co-host this year's China International Baby Carriers & Baby Articles Fair, also known as the China Kids Expo. This year's event is set for Oct. 11-13 in Shanghai.
Koelnmesse is organizer of the Kind + Jugend juvenile fair, held annually in Cologne, Germany. The groups are looking to "maximize the synergy of both parties" to help establish the expo, which is the only international juvenile show held in China, according to a news release.
The China Kids Expo was born out of TJPA's China Toy Expo and staged its first independent show this past fall. This year's shows will run concurrently at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. More than 1,000 exhibitors are expected to participate, including 300 at the kids expo. Exhibitors last year included Philips Avent, Chicco, Britax, Maxi-Cosi, Quinny and Hauck.
"We are very excited to be part of China Kids Expo," said David Feng, managing director of Germany-based Koelnmesse. "The exhibition industry poses both opportunities and challenges, and one of the reasons for choosing to work with TJPA is partly due to its authoritativeness and status within the industry. The other being the bright prospects of the infant and kids product market."
"Being associated with Koelnmesse is a win-win choice, not only in opening up the Chinese market, but also attracting international buyers and further developing the industry," said Shi Xiaoguang, chairman of TJPA. "It is TJPA's strategy to step up efforts in establishing an internationally renowned exhibition as well as Koelnmesse's proactive stance in developing their business in China."
