Samuel Lawrence expands bed recall
Furniture Today Staff -- Kids Today, 7/24/2012 10:21:17 AM
Case goods importer Samuel Lawrence Furniture has broadened its recall of some sleigh beds imported from Malaysia, adding full and twin size beds to the earlier recall of king and queen sizes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced.
The expansion of the recall adds another 2,500 beds to the 19,560 already involved in the voluntary recall.
The beds are part of the Bordeaux collection, manufactured by Malaysia-based Poh Huat Furniture Inds. They were sold in furniture stores from August 2009 to April 2012. CPSC said the hardware holding the headboard and footboard can loosen or detach, meaning the parts can fall off the beds.
CPSC said it had received more than 100 reports of the parts detaching, including one report of a Florida man who injured his foot when a footboard detached.
Model numbers for the recalled beds are 8070-252 and 8070-253 for the queen-sized model, 8070-272 and 8070-273 for the king-sized, 8070-242 and 8070-243 for the full-sized, and 8070-232 and 8070-233 for the twin-size.
Consumers have been asked to stop using the products immediately and contact Samuel Lawrence for a free repair kit. The company can be contacted toll free at (866) 572-9889 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday. Information about the recall also is on the company's website, www.slf-co.com.
