K.I.D.S., Global Design Concepts partner for 2013 Back to School campaign

Kids in Distressed Situations, a nonprofit organization that helps needy children, has teamed with accessories company Global Design Concepts as K.I.D.S. kicks off its 2013 Back to School campaign.

Global Design Concepts, a licensing partner with several entertainment companies and brands, will donate a percentage of sales from specially tagged backpacks to K.I.D.S, up to $50,000. The campaign  will launch during Back to School season next year. GDC's line of licensed backpacks can be found in national departments stores such as JCPenney, Sears and Kohls.

The campaign marks the beginning of a long-term relationship, both parties said.

"Children are the backbone of Global Design Concepts and I couldn't think of a better charity to partner with to help support kids in need than K.I.D.S.," said Dan Sabbah, president and CEO of Global Design Concepts.

"We want everyone to spread the word and make sure that on your back-to-school shopping trip, K.I.D.S is shopping with you," said David M. Coleman, interim president of K.I.D.S. "When you buy your child their backpack to start school in 2013, look for the K.I.D.S. hangtag and your purchase will help start something much greater for a child in need."

While the GDC campaign launches next year, K.I.D.S. has teamed with two retailers for promotions that will take place next month. Lord & Taylor will donate a percentage of sales from selected women's denim to K.I.D.S with a minimum donation of $20,000. And children's shoe and accessories retailer Stride-Rite will donate a pair of socks to K.I.D.S. for each item of hosiery sold Sept. 5-25.
