Dream on Me bed rails recalled

Furniture Today Staff -- Kids Today, 12/11/2012 11:59:04 AM

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall involving 900 children's bed rails sold by Dream on Me Inc. of South Plainfield, N.J.

While no injuries have been reported, the CPSC said there is a suffocation and strangulation hazard related to the units. This is because the bed rail can separate from the mattress, which could cause the child's body to become entrapped if it slips between the rail and the mattress.

Such bed rails, which are designed to keep young children from falling out of bed, were made in China and sold at small independent stores and online at amazon.com and wayfair.com between September 2011 and May 2012 for between $15 and $30, the CPSC said. Dream on Me is printed on the top rail.

The CPSC alerted consumers to stop using the rails immediately and suggested that they contact Dream on Me for a refund. The company can be contacted at (877) 201-4317 or online at www.dreamonme.com. Consumers should click on the recalls section of the website for more information.
