High Point, N.C. — MGM Transport Corp., a transportation provider for the home furnishings industry, plans to open a new terminal in Ridgefield, N.J. The facility will provide all MGM services, including container devanning, warehousing and distribution (short term and long term), local distribution and home delivery prepping. The 60,000-square-foot terminal was scheduled to open in September.
The Ridgefield terminal is a result of increased business and the need to provide more service capabilities in the Northeast.
"We searched extensively to locate the best facility," said Louis Massood, executive vice president of MGM Transport. "The Ridgefield location allows us close proximity to the New York metropolitan area. We're only three miles from the George Washington Bridge, so we have excellent access to primary corridors to all states in the Northeast. We're also close to the ports, which is very important for the import business. This larger facility allows us to better serve our customers by providing a complete array of solutions to solve their transportation, distribution and storage needs."
Massood said the Ridgefield facility will replace the current terminal in Kearny, N.J., which the company has outgrown.
"Our business has increased substantially over the past two years, and the new terminal is part of our ongoing operational strategy to make sure we have the elements in place to meet the needs of the industry," he said.
