Rabinowitz takes job with CopCorp Licensing
New York — Lauren Rabinowitz has been named an account executive with CopCorp Licensing.
Rabinowitz is responsible for soliciting new licensing deals on behalf of the agency's client properties as well as managing both new and existing licensees.
Before joining CopCorp Licensing, she held sales and licensing positions at Rand International and Marvel Enterprises. At Rand, Rabinowitz worked directly with major retailers in regards to product pricing, sampling and shipments. At Marvel, Rabinowitz coordinated submissions, approvals and brand assurance as liaison to Marvel licensees. Before Marvel, she worked for NBC during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Sesame Workshop promotes Westin, Regan
New York — Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, has promoted Sherrie Rollins Westin to executive vice president/chief marketing officer, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Melvin Ming, and Maura Regan to vice president and general manager of Global Licensing, reporting to Westin.
Westin will be responsible for driving revenue growth through licensing, corporate sponsorship and philanthropic development, and providing consistent messaging and marketing that promotes the Workshop's mission-driven work. Most recently, Westin was executive vice president of Corporate Affairs, Education and Development, responsible for the overall strategic positioning of the Workshop and its various properties as well as philanthropic development.
Regan will oversee the Workshop's global retail business across major categories of licensed goods, including toys, apparel, home furnishings, stationery and gifts. Her division, in large part, funds the charitable work of the organization that is dedicated to helping kids reach their highest potential.
Before her promotion, Regan served as vice president, International Licensing and New Business Development, responsible for the international product licensing business and overseeing new business development for such brands as Sesame Street and Dragon Tales, as well as growing the Workshop's theme park initiatives. She will continue expanding existing licensing activities and developing new business initiatives for Greater China and Japan. Before joining the Workshop in 1999, Regan held positions with Scholastic Entertainment and MTV Networks.
Warner Bros. group hires Avent for VP position
Burbank, Calif. — Lisa Avent has been named vice president of worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
In her new position, Avent will handle all facets of marketing related to the Looney Tunes and DC Comics brands. Additionally, she will oversee the regional marketing responsibilities for Latin America and Asia/Pacific.
Avent joins Warner Bros. Consumer Products after seven years with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where she led the Worldwide Licensing and Retail Development department. While at MGM, she developed and launched the Pink Panther film and classic licensing program.
Her career also includes management positions at 20th Century Fox licensing and merchandising, Sony Signatures, Mattel Toys and Nelvana Communications.
