Burbank, Calif.— The Walt Disney Co. and The Baby Einstein Co. have rolled out a direct-to-video DVD starring the new preschool property Disney's Little Einsteins.
The DVD, titled "Our [Big] Huge Adventure," is designed to spark the curiosity of children with new ways to enjoy, hear, and see classical music, famous works of art and the wonders of nature. The DVD, also available in VHS, is the first in the Little Einsteins franchise and is the lead-in for a series set to debut on the Disney Channel in October.
The animated movie follows four talented ethnically-diverse friends who tour the world in their musical rocket. The story is set to the music of Beethoven, and the school-age crew explores places such as Niagara Falls, the United Nations, Oklahoma, Texas and Mexico. The developmental DVD encourages kids and their parents to participate by clapping, marching and singing to the music.
The DVD was produced at New York-based Curious Pictures, and it introduces a first in preschool animation by setting 2-dimensional characters amid vibrant, real-world backgrounds.
"Little Einsteins was created by a dream team of award-winning producers, animators, child development experts, musicians and researchers," said Russell Hampton, executive vice president and general manager of The Baby Einstein Co. "Our goal was to create the ultimate field trip — to show children real places in the world, provide interactive experiences with art and nature, and encourage them to learn about, enjoy and make music everyday."
The DVD includes a short look at the first episode of the TV series and collectible stickers. "Our [Big] Huge Adventure" is in stores now and retails for $19.99.
