Crown Crafts, Pali partner to produce crib bedding

By Tanya K. Merritte -- Kids Today, 10/1/2005

Las Vegas— Crown Crafts Infant Products has partnered with upscale nursery furniture maker Pali to create five crib bedding collections. The licensed bedding launched at last month's All Baby and Child Expo here.

Jacqui Cantillon, sales coordinator with Crown Crafts, said most of the bedding has a very contemporary look. "We had a great response to this," she said at ABC, where Crown Crafts shared a private showroom with Italy-based Pali.

The five sets include Milan, Naples and Como, which all have a stripe-and-dot pattern. Milan is pink and white, Naples is green and white, and Como features multiple shades of blue, green, yellow and pink. Cantillon said a four-piece set, which includes a duvet, bumper, dust ruffle and sheet, will retail for about $179.99.

The other two groups are Tuscany and Florence, which Cantillon said have a higher-end look. Tuscany is a girls group, with rose motifs and sage accents. Florence, done in shades of dusty aqua, mocha brown and ecru, is a highly graphic pattern that can be used for both boys and girls. These bedding sets will retail for about $300.

The five groups are scheduled to begin shipping in January. Crown Crafts, based in Huntington Beach, Calif., also is producing coordinating accessories such as lamp shades, window valances and accent pillows.

The agreement marks Pali's first foray into the textiles business.

"Pali's decision to enter into the nursery linens market is a natural compliment to our commitment to bringing the finest products to our customers and to the consumer," said Kevin Walker, vice president of sales for Pali North America.

Nanci Freeman, president and CEO of Crown Crafts, said, "We are honored to be working with a company with the history and reputation of Pali. This arrangement, which brings together two industry leaders, will offer consumers the best in both infant furniture and textiles."

Cantillon said Crown Crafts plans to produce more licensed Pali bedding collections.

The Florence collection features trendy colors and a mod pattern.

The Como collection retails for $179.99.
