Youth choices in the top-of-bed category are branching out. There is still a market for cutesy looks, but many kids and their parents are seeking out designs with a more classic feel. Vintage looks are big this year, such as this toile print from PatchKraft, and Kids Line and Terra Sutta Designs have added a vintage twist to popular boys themes. For older girls, texture and more sophisticated colors are key to creating a hip room.
PatchKraft's Wonderland line features colorful toile prints on 100% cotton.
Macy from Aubergine Home Collection is a simple, but sophisticated look for older girls. The group showcases two hot colors, brown and light green, in a combination of plaids and solids.
Kids Line's Home Run collection is a vintage sports-themed group that uses a combination of textures, such as faux leather appliqués. The bedding coordinates with a table-and-chair set, a new category for Kids Line.
Italy-based Picci is expanding into youth bedding and recently introduced Melany, a feminine collection with pink accents. The twin set, which includes sheets, dust ruffle and duvet, retails for about $450.
High-resolution screen art featuring sports and transportation themes makes a vivid statement on linens and throw pillows from Terra Sutta Designs.
Geometric shapes in soothing beach colors have definite tween appeal. The Kit collection is by Maddie Boo.
California Kids' string curtains are reminiscent of '70s bead strands, but are offered in tween-friendly colors and materials such as pompoms. Designed to jazz up windows, closets, doorways and more, they retail for $45 a panel.
