New York— Sesame Workshop has partnered with publishing company Make It About Me to produce a series of photo-personalized books starring popular Sesame Street characters and real-life children.
The books will feature characters such as Elmo, Big Bird and Cookie Monster in familiar Sesame Street settings along with a photo of the child integrated into the action so that he or she becomes a part of the story. The books are customized on the covers, spine and on every page. The first book was released this fall, with more titles scheduled for release in 2006. The retail price is $29.95.
The books can be ordered at Make It About Me's Web site, www.makeitaboutme.com. Customers enter information about the child and then upload or mail in a photograph. The book ships in about 10 days.
"We are excited that a company with the depth, grounding and strong educational commitment as Sesame Workshop would choose to partner with us to bring these personalized books to children," said Michael Anthony of Make It About Me.
Said Scott Chambers, vice president of publishing, home video and audio at Sesame Workshop, "We think this will be a wonderful way to engage children in reading, and we're sure our audience will delight in seeing themselves with their favorite Sesame Street friends."
