MAY
- Delta Enterprise of New York is voluntarily recalling about 180,000 Lov's Decorated Orthodontic pacifiers. The pacifiers are banned under federal law. They failed federal safety tests when the nipples separated from the base. This poses a choking hazard to young children.
- Pamela Drake Inc. of Emeryville, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 7,000 Lemon Meringue wooden push toys. Small parts can break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
- Dollar General Corp. of Goodlettsville, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 80,000 heart-shaped pendants. The recalled heart-shaped pendant contains high levels of lead. Lead poisoning in children is associated with behavioral problems, learning disabilities, hearing problems and growth retardation.
- PBteen of San Francisco is voluntarily recalling 28,000 glass knobs on Chez Moi furniture collections. The glass knobs can break when over-tightened or when pressure is applied, exposing a sharp edge.
- Fisher-Price of East Aurora, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 54,000 Fisher-Price Lil' Wagster Dragster push toys. A young child's chin, jaw and teeth can get lodged in the opening at the top of the push toy's round-shaped handle and incur injuries. Fisher-Price also is voluntarily recalling about 154,000 Grow-To-Pro pogo sticks. An internal metal pin can wear down, causing the pogo sticks to remain stuck in the down position and release unexpectedly, posing a risk of fall or facial impact injuries to children.
- Simplicity Inc. of Reading, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 575 White Lancaster cribs. The white paint on the cribs can chip, posing a choking hazard to young children.
APRIL
- Atico International USA of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 1.5 million children's folding chairs. The chair's safety lock can fail, allowing the chair to collapse or fold unexpectedly. Children's fingers can become caught or entrapped in the hinge and slot areas of the chair, posing a pinch or cut hazard. This can cause severe lacerations and fingertip amputations to children's fingers.
- J.C. Penney Corp. of Plano, Texas, is voluntarily recalling 228,818 Okie Dokie striped bodysuits with puffy appliqué. The appliqué can detach from the garment, posing a choking hazard to young children.
- Royal Seating Ltd. of Cameron, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 46,000 Royal Seating Prima Chairs. The seat portion of the chair can detach from the leg base, possibly causing a child to fall to the floor.
- California International Trading of Los Angeles is voluntarily recalling about 5,000 Light-up pacifiers, New Style Piano Toys, and HighToys Choochoo toy trains. The pacifiers and toys can break apart, exposing small parts. This poses a choking hazard to children.
- Carter 's of Atlanta is voluntarily recalling about 31,000 Carter's infant and children's overalls. The plastic center of the decorative snaps on these garments can detach, posing a choking hazard.
