New York— Textile manufacturer Dan River has signed an agreement with Silver Lining to produce a line of licensed youth bedding based on the work of renowned children's author and illustrator Eric Carle. Carle is the creator of more than 70 children's books with 65 million copies sold worldwide, and is perhaps most famed for his book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
Dan River plans to launch toddler and first bed sets for the 3 to 7 age group at the fall New York Textiles show, and will also be developing accessory items such as pillows, sleeping bags, window treatments and bath accessories.
"We are very excited about adding the Eric Carle license to our portfolio of juvenile licenses," said Susan Meek, corporate vice president of licensing and marketing for Dan River. "Eric Carle is instantly recognized by children and parents alike. The bold colors and fun artwork will liven up any child's room and are a natural extension from bedtime reading to bedtime décor."
Additional new Eric Carle licensed products are slated to hit retail in spring 2006, including toy and gift products from Galison/Mudpuppy, Mrs. Grossman's Paper Company, Small World Toys and University Games. Silver Lining's licensing plans include the expansion of Eric Carle products into the home furnishings and décor arena, and future categories include rugs, wall coverings, wall paint and bath products.
