Toy Fair playthings inspire learning while cultivating imaginations

Gund's new Puppet Island finger puppets come in a variety of animals, including turtles, piglets and frogs, shown. Girl puppets wear hula skirts with a small, sparkly flower attached, while boy puppets wear plaid shirts with embroidered palm trees and shorts.

Tiny Love's new ActiviTot 360° Play-a-Round doubles the size of the Gymini and has 17 developmental activities on one mat and 10 easy-connect anchor ports for snap-on animals. The ActiviTot also includes a portable tummy-time pillow and baby-activated musical mirror. It retails for $75.

Yottoy continues its tradition of translating beloved children's tales into plush with Lucy Cousins' Maisy, available in soft velvet bean-filled versions and two different outfits.

HaPe's new magnetic mazes have pinning eyes, turnstiles that really spin and gates. The travel-sized Little Blue Eyes is appropriate for ages 2 and older.

Haba's new Little Fox play set features a sturdy, colorful board book, plush fox and carrying case. Retail price is $12.

Folkmanis has added the whimsical pink flamingo puppet to its line of realistic puppets.

Lamaze's Two Can Play Giggle Bug is part of a new line of Two Can Play By Learning Curve, designed to teach baby about cause and effect through play. Retail price is $20.

Maple Landmark's new natural My Train Set is handcrafted in Vermont of clear pine with an oil-based finish. The three-car set retails for $46.

This ladybug wiggler is part of the Mary Meyer Baby line, and retails for $8. Coordinating items, including rattles, teethers, soft books, activity toys, baby blankets and wind-up musicals, are also available.

Infantino's new Giddy-up and Go Gym features a vintage cowboy look, and includes a jingling cow and horse, crackling rooster and a cowboy boot peek-a-boo mirror with tassels and spurs. The mat also has an easy round-up feature that allows parents to twist the top, pull up and fold for storage. Retail price is $35.
