Sweet Beginnings launches import line

Delray Beach, Fla.— In a move to broaden distribution, designer hand-painted case goods company Sweet Beginnings launched a collection of more affordable accessories at the New York Gift Show this winter.
"More people are looking for a value product with great design at an affordable cost," said President Patrice Flashner Fitzgerald. "This will make (the line) more accessible."
While the Sweet Beginnings luxury line is custom made and hand-painted domestically, the new line will be imported from China and will not be customizable.
For the new line, the company's signature butterfly design has taken on a new look that fits from childhood to college dorm, said Fitzgerald, and features fun, modern elements paired with traditional design.
The collection includes nightstands, two styles of wall shelves, lamps, headboards, storage units, framed corkboards, mirrors and blackboards. Price points for the collection, which will ship this month, range from $83 for a framed corkboard or mirror to $363 for a nightstand.
"This is a fantastic entryway for people who know and love the brand but can't afford a luxury item," said Fitzgerald.
More designs are under development, and a total of eight will be unveiled throughout the year. Designs will include elements from Sweet Beginnings' existing collections, including vintage circus, sports, vintage flowers and more, along with some new designs.
Sweet Beginnings plans to showcase the next collections at the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Assn. show in May.
The new collection features the company's signature butterfly design.
