Master Design introduces three kids collections

By Thomas Russell -- Kids Today, 5/1/2006

High Point— Case goods and occasional importer Master Design Furniture launched a youth and master bedroom program sourced from three factories in Brazil at last month's furniture market here.

The offerings included youth bedrooms priced between $399 and $599 retail for bed, dresser and mirror combinations. The product is pine, and the company says it places an emphasis on design and finish.

One bedroom set, called Xs and Os, is a transitional group in a pink-and-white finish with X and O designs on the drawer fronts and headboards.

Stars and Clouds are two more urban-styled unisex collections with cloud and star designs on headboards and drawer pulls. The clouds are set against a light blue background on the headboard and drawer fronts, while the stars can be set against white or multi-colored drawer fronts.

The X-Men collection is a rustic boys group in a butterscotch finish.

All the youth groups include panel beds, captain's beds and bunk beds. Bunk beds have a suggested retail of $499. A standalone bunk bed called the Vanderbilt is available in a dark cherry finish.

Master Design also introduced the Breckenridge master bedroom, an American country-inspired transitional group that has a sleigh bed with hand-carved elements. Priced at $1,299 retail, it comes in a tobacco and a burnished gold finish.

Joe Elmore, Master Design's vice president of sales, marketing and product development, did not name the three factories, but said one of them is Brazil's largest exporter of furniture to the United States.

"It made a good fit for us," Elmore said. "Brazil has proven styling and proven quality."

The Brazilian sourcing is part of Master Design's new global market supply-chain system. Along with sourcing in China and Brazil, the company is now getting bedroom from Vietnam and bedroom and casual dining sets from Malaysia. The company plans to have on-site warehousing at its source factories in these countries.

Master Design also delved into leather, home entertainment and a 45-piece accent program called Sensations. Until now, the company has been mainly known for its imported bedroom, dining room and occasional.

Master Design's Stars juvenile bedroom is made from pine and available in either white or multicolored painted finish.

The Clouds juvenile bedroom set by Master Design is made from pine solids and has a blue-and-white painted finish.
