JPMA's 2006 Innovation Award winners

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Assn. awarded 10 companies the 2006 Innovation Award at last month's show in Orlando.
Retail buyers and trade and consumer media representatives judged more than 130 new products and evaluated them on innovation, marketability, trend-setting potential, appeal and usefulness.
The winners were:
9 Months Up, 9 Months Down's Strollometer is a computer/speedometer designed to fit any stroller. The unit notes current, average and maximum speed, trip and daily distance, trip and real clock times and ambient temperature.
The ISIS iQ DUO Twin Electronic Breast Pump from Avent America is designed to learn and automate a mother's personal pumping rhythm. Instead of using pre-sets, it's the first electronic breast pump with variable suction, speed and rhythm. Designed with a hospital-grade vacuum and the gentle Let-down Massage Cushion, ISIS iQ DUO combines features that can improve milk production.
Baby Swede's Baby Björn Baby Carrier Air helps keep parent and baby cooler with an exclusive 3D mesh. The carrier can be used with infants weighing 8 to 25 pounds, and it easily folds into the attached elastic bag.
Glamourmom's Built-in Nursing Bra tank features a patented design for new mothers. The tank top combines complete post-partum tummy coverage with a built-in soft cup frame and elastic shelf for breast support. Flaps fold down for easy nursing, clasps sit flush to the fabric and adjustable shoulder straps and a mesh liner hold nursing pads in place.
The gogo Kidz Travelmate from Go-Go Babyz Corp. is an attachment designed for a variety of convertible and toddler carseats that enables the parent to wheel the seat around keeping one hand free.
Munchkin's iCrib is a compact crib sound system that lets parents choose the music for their baby. It fits all standard cribs and is compatible with most MP3 players, including iPod, and has a built-in night light. The iCrib's volume controls include a safety volume limiter, and a child-resistant cover protects both child and MP3 player.
Neat Solutions' Toppers To-Go Disposable Feeding kit provides everything parents need when feeding their children away from home. The kit includes a 10-ounce, disposable sippy cup with a no-drip spout, Table Topper stick-in-place place mat, disposable bib with crumb catcher and baby friendly fork and spoon with Sesame Street characters. Everything packs into the cup, which is sealed in plastic to keep it sanitary and portable.

Elmo talks to the child in English and Spanish, saying 10 phrases in each language when the child gives Elmo a congratulatory high-five. A mini-book with stickers allows parents to interact with and reward toddlers as they learn.
