Gund, Sesame Workshop partner

Staff -- Kids Today, 6/1/2006

Plush manufacturer Gund has joined with Sesame Workshop to create a licensed collection based on the educational group's Pinky Dinky Doo property.

The television series "Pinky Dinky Doo" airs on the Noggin network and tells the story of Pinky, a 7-year-old girl who solves problems through imaginative storytelling. Other characters include Pinky's brother Tyler Dinky Doo, pet guinea pig Mr. Guinea Pig, her friends Nicholas Biscuit, Bobby Boom, Daffinee Toilette and her parents.

Gund plans to launch the collection, which will include plush and other gift items for preschoolers, during the winter gift markets in January.

"We are tickled pink to extend the reach of Pinky Dinky Doo through a partnership with Gund," said Maura Regan, vice president and general manager, global consumer products for Sesame Workshop. "We believe these cool new products will encourage children to think big and create their own imaginative stories, just like Pinky."

The property is based on a series on bedtime stories written by Jim Jinkins, president and co-founder of Cartoon Pizza.

Gund's Pinky Dinky Doo collection will be introduced at the January gift markets.
