Evenflo teams with "American Inventor" winner

Staff -- Kids Today, 7/1/2006

Evenflo is working with Janusz Liberkowski, winner of ABC's "American Inventor" reality show, to make his Anecia Survival Capsule car seat a reality.

The Anecia Survival Capsule is a prototype infant car seat where the baby sits inside nested spheres. In a collision, the spheres spin and shield the baby from the destructive force of the impact.

"Evenflo is committed to innovation, safety and consumer education," said Rob Matteucci, CEO of Evenflo. "This is an opportunity for possible safety advancements in an important product category. We're proud to partner with 'American Inventor' to lend our expertise and help take Mr. Liberkowski's Anecia Survival Capsule to the next level."

The company will take the lead on the continued development and engineering of the prototype including a rigorous development and testing process to improve the original concept. All Evenflo car seats undergo extensive analysis and testing that meets or exceeds all current U.S. Federal Safety Standards for motor vehicles and the same developmental process will be applied to Liberkowski's invention.

"The journey to further develop Mr. Liberkowski's invention will be an exciting one," Matteucci said. "His passion and vision for child safety align with our commitment to deliver products that are best for baby."

Liberkowski competed on "American Inventor" to have his product named best new invention and he won $1 million. A panel of expert judges narrowed down the initial entries to a group of finalists, who were each given $50,000 to develop their product, refine it and take it to the next level. The show's panel of judges included show co-creator Peter Jones, one of the UK's most successful entrepreneurs; Doug Hall, an inventor, bestselling author and radio host and also the founder and CEO of Eureka! Ranch, an inventing, training and research firm; Ed Evangelista, an executive creative director at the New York headquarters of JWT; and Mary Lou Quinlan, founder and CEO of Just Ask a Woman, one of the premiere women's marketing companies in the United States.

Janusz Liberkowski 's invention will be built by Evenflo.
