Six juvenile manufacturers have partnered for a new permanent showroom that will debut at the Atlanta gift market this month.
The showroom, Your Fairy Godmothers, is housed in Children's World on the 13th floor of AmericasMart Building 3. The 1,117-square-foot space has a fairytale castle theme and features drawbridges, dragons, towers and torches. The vendors involved in the venture are Alli Taylor Bedding, Designer's Secret (furniture), Tickle Toes (bibs and hooded towels), Creative Concepts by Jill (artwork), Cuddlebugs-n-Cocoons (blankets) and Suzibella, which was formerly Welcome Baby (memory boxes).
"We've designed the showroom as a magical place where retailers can not only shop, but also be inspired by the environment and personal service with ideas for merchandising and setting trends in their own markets," said Suzanna Longacre, founder of Suzibella.
The companies exhibited at markets across the country, including the Atlanta gift show, either individually or in smaller groups, and they shared common buyers. Marketing their products together seemed like a logical next step, the company owners said.
"Our product lines naturally compliment and enhance each other," said Leane Boksleitner, founder of Alli Taylor Bedding. "Together, we offer a range of products without the overwhelming feel of a super-exhibitor."
The group, who have dubbed themselves fairy godmothers, say they want to create a buying environment that is relaxing and inspiring. Planned special touches include baked cookies and plush chairs.
"Each of us is a business owner, and we realize how intense shows can be," Longacre said. "With so many products and so much distraction at the market, we wanted to create a relaxed, fun environment where the buyer can visualize the merchandise in his store and in turn inspire their customers."
In addition to the January and July gift markets, the showroom will be open during the children's apparel markets that are held several times a year. A ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 14
