Artist Jill Rosenwald has turned her eye toward the juvenile market with Bubu, a line of baby gift items she's designed for Jill Rosenwald by Magenta. The collection, which includes one-piece outfits and caps, bib and washcloth sets and Melamine tableware, debuted at the gift shows this summer.
Rosenwald has enjoyed success with her tabletop and ceramic collections with Magenta since 2002 and was thrilled by the opportunity to develop a baby collection.
"I started working on it last winter and I'm happy with how it's turned out," Rosenwald said. "The pieces are humorous and quirky but classy and they're good for boys or girls."
Bubu features whimsical animals in soft shades of green, blue, orange, pink, yellow and brown on white backgrounds. The clothing is available in sizes 0–6 months and it's machine washable. The one-piece outfit and cap sets retail for $35 and the bib and washcloth sets are $29. The tabletop is available in deluxe, $38 (large platter, bowl, snack bowl, cup, spoon); dinner, $32 (plate, bowl, cup, spoon); and snack, $19 (four snack bowls) sets.
"The line has been so successful, we'll probably expand it to include lamps, ceramics, keepsake items and more," Rosenwald said.
Rosenwald choose the name Bubu for her baby collection because that's what she calls her own children, who are a source of inspiration for the line.
